Jake Thompson
Jake is a PhD candidate whose research centers around materials affected by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), as well as the potential migration of PFAS from these materials into the environment across various management scenarios. Beyond research, Jake spends his time cooking (primarily for the joy of eating), indulges in rock climbing, and travels to explore nature parks.
Ashley Lin
Ashley is a PhD candidate whose research focuses on characterizing lesser studied per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in different waste related matrices, like volatile PFAS in landfill gas. In her free time Ashley enjoys doing pottery, being outdoors, and getting together with friends for a board game night.
Dreyton Lott
Dreyton Lott is a PhD Candidate whose research is focused on the use of constructed wetlands for the treatment of municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill leachate, primarily for the removal of ammonia-nitrogen. Outside of work, Dreyton enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, rock climbing, and indulging in college sports.
Kate Weiksnar
Kate is a PhD candidate whose research focuses on the physical and chemical behavior of large-scale recycling applications using industrial waste materials, such as municipal solid waste incinerator bottom ash and phosphogypsum. Kate enjoys spending time with her two dogs, hiking and camping, and doing Pilates.
Allison Cerlanek
Allison is a a PhD student whose research focuses on furthering the understanding of the presence, abundance, and diversity of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in waste management processes, such as landfill leachate evaporation. In her free time, Allison enjoys training for triathlons, walking her dog, and meeting friends for coffee and pastries.
Hannah Sackles
Hannah is a PhD student whose research focuses on solid waste decision-making, specifically in understanding the environmental, economic, and social impacts of solid waste management in Florida given existing infrastructure capacity and resilience. In her free time, Hannah enjoys being outdoors, riding horses, and working with animals.
David Zeledon
Malik DeWindt
Malik is a Masters student whose research focuses on investigating the mechanical properties of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) bottom ash (BA) through the carbonation process by analyzing BA strength as an aggregate in road base. In his spare time, Malik enjoys exploring nature trails, playing basketball with friends, and playing video games.
Jordan Magnuson
Jordan is a Masters student specializing in research on the beneficial reuse of municipal solid waste incinerator ash, specifically for use in construction materials. In her free time, Jordan enjoys hiking, camping, and reading.
