May 19-21, 2021
We are planning a workshop sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to encourage more fundamental collaborative research efforts between the academic manufacturing community and industry. Specifically, we will discuss research that aligns with and supports the Manufacturing USA Institute’s technology road maps by highlighting the challenges that are too fundamental in nature for Institutes to support but which align with NSF core programs. We hope to have a diverse range of opinions present at the workshop. By participating in this workshop, you will have opportunities to do the following:
- Explore research roadmaps for selected Manufacturing USA Institutes
- Identify future research needs in the US
- Explore funding programs and mechanisms
- Identify challenges and benefits of convergent and Industry-Academia collaboration
- Meet and share your ideas with key people from Manufacturing USA Institutes, federal agencies, and NSF
- Explore opportunities to initiate new collaborations
