Gretchen Dietz was selected to co-teach “Introduction to Engineering” in June, 2021, for UF’s inaugural Precollege Scholars program. The Precollege Scholars program is a part of the UF Center for Precollegiate Education and Training. The Precollege Scholars program allows upper level high school students to take non-credit courses in special topics taught by graduate students. This gives students the opportunity to experience college-level courses without the pressure of grades.
The goal of “Introduction to Engineering” is to introduce students to the diverse fields of engineering. The course explores various disciplines of engineering to provide an extensive background of different fields, while actively engaging in projects applicable to all fields. Through guest lectures, collaborative activities and hands-on projects, students will develop communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The course will culminate in the development of an engineering design project.
