Undergraduate student Florencia Corbo-Ferreira spent summer 2021 at a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at MIT. She worked with Dr. Brent Minchew and Meghana Ranganathan from the Glacier Dynamics and Remote Sensing Group. Her research aimed to estimate changes in ice dynamics in fast-flowing Antarctic glaciers. The first portion of the project involved characterizing changes in ice flow from observational velocity data and then visualizing these changes. The second portion involved using a simple ice flow model to be fitted to the observation data velocity profiles. This work contributes to knowledge that can help us better model the effects of climate change.
