Reseach Highlights

  • Developed the original Curvilinear-grid Hydrodynamics 3D (CH3D) model during 1983-1986,which was later applied to the Chesapeake Bay during 1988-1990.
  • Significantly enhanced the CH3D since 1988 through numerous modeling and field studies of complex Florida estuaries and lakes.
  • Developed an integrated hydrodynamics-sediment-water quality model of Lake Okeechobee in 1988-1994.
  • Developed a high resolution hydrodynamics model of the Sarasota Bay-Tampa Bay system.
  • Developed an integrated hydrodynamics-sediment-water quality-seagrass model of the Roberts Bay and Little Sarasota Bay system.
  • Developed an integrated hydrodynamics-water quality-seagrass model of the Tampa Bay estuarine system.
  • Developed hydrodynamics models of Lake Apopka, Charlotte Harbor, and Florida Bay.
  • Developed a fully integrated modeling system based on the curvilinear grid system of CH3D. The modeling system, CH3D-IMS, consists of a circulation model, a wave model, a sediment transport model, a water quality model, a light attenuation model, and a seagrass model. This 3-D integrated modeling system has been applied and validated with data from several estuarine systems including Indian River Lagoon, Tampa Bay, and Charlotte Harbor.
  • Developed parallel version of CH3D and CH3D-IMS.
