Dr. Andreia Faria’s research group seeks a Ph.D. student to study for Spring 2021. The candidate will research the bioactivity of nanomaterials and their application as antimicrobial coatings. Such antimicrobial can be applied in many fields, such as medicine, food industry, and engineering systems, to prevent bacterial attachment and biofilm development. Dr. Faria’s lab is located at the Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The candidate must demonstrate interest or has previous experience working with nanomaterials. Background, theoretical or practical, in microbiology is preferred but not mandatory.

By joining Dr. Faria’s research group, the student will benefit from a well-established and competitive graduate program in Environmental Engineering in the US. Requirements:

  1. Hold a bachelor or an MSc. degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, agricultural science, material engineering or material science, biology, or related sciences.
  2. Be or hold American citizenship.
  3. Two letters of recommendation
  4. Be available to start activities in Spring 2021.
