Shreedevi Kumar successfully defended her thesis, ‘Tissue-specific targeting of inflammatory pathways in osteoarthritis’, on November 3rd. Starting as a lab volunteer and then transitioning to her PhD, Shreedevi has made significant contributions on the research in the connections between inflammation and osteoarthritis in her tenure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While a part of the Sharma lab, Shreedevi was awarded an Attribute of a Gator Engineer as well as a BME departmental excellence award. Her work in the lab contributed significantly to the publication of several papers and a number of presentations across the country. She also played a role in the mentoring and scientific development of undergraduate and graduate students across all parts of the lab. The legacy of Shreedevi’s research will be carried on by current masters and PhD students evaluating the role of inflammatory pathways in osteoarthritis and continuing the development of therapeutic strategies to manage it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similar to Madison, Shreedevi presented her defense over Zoom due to the current Covid conditions. Coming together the lab was able to have a small celebration to commemorate the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
