This fall, Tomas Clavijo-Garcia, a second-year Master’s student, worked part-time at Amend Surgical, Inc. as a Product Development Intern. Amend Surgical, Inc. is a medical device company in Gainesville, FL. They are dedicated to the discovery, development, and manufacture of breakthrough medical devices. Specifically, they are developing a platform of strong adhesive barriers. As a Product Development Intern, Tomas worked with the product development team to design and evaluate a biodegradable hydrogel device for nerve repair. In addition, he coordinated with a quality assurance manager to draft qualification documents that follow FDA regulations and the CFR.
It was fantastic to have a member of the Sharma Lab involved in the local medical device industry. We’re eager to integrate the valuable insights Tomas gained about clinical translation into our standard practices.
Great work, Tomas!
