These decision-support systems will help stakeholders gain useful information for planning and real-time decision-making.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.springernature.com\/full\/springer-static\/image\/art%3A10.1007%2Fs10694-020-00979-x\/MediaObjects\/10694_2020_979_Fig1_HTML.png\" alt=\"Fig. 1\" width=\"819\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h5>RESEARCH THEME 2: Micromobility as a last-mile enhancement to public transit<\/h5>\n<p>Our lab is developing a <strong>decision-support system<\/strong> for planning, designing, operating, and managing micromobility in U.S. cities. This tool is a web-based platform that 1) can crowdsource information from residents on traffic incidents such as crashes and near-misses; and 2) can help cities manage e-scooter parking and monitor equity policy compliance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>RESEARCH THEME 3: FROM FIXED-ROUTE TO MOBILITY-ON-DEMAND TRANSIT SYSTEMS<\/h5>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__gutter\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__gutter__right\" data-qa=\"message_content\">\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__blocks c-message_kit__blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"c-message__message_blocks c-message__message_blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer\" data-qa=\"block-kit-renderer\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper--first\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_block\" dir=\"auto\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_section\">Powered by the advances in information and communication technology, on-demand ride services fill travelers\u2019 needs in real time, providing consumers with convenience, flexibility, and cost-savings. While some may concern that privately-operated on-demand ride services may siphon off transit users, we see great potential for them to complement public transit.
