Teaching
We are committed to educating and advising the next-generation of science and engineering from all backgrounds. In particular Prof. Kim enjoys exploring and implementing new teaching pedagogies that can “flip” the classroom and improve student experiences through active learning. In all my teaching experiences I have always focused on the fundamentals first and found great satisfaction in the growth students can make. To promote this growth mindset, I have found Joe Feldman’s book “Grading with Equity” to have great components that can even be carried out in higher education.

Mentoring
Mentoring satisfaction from large classroom settings to one-on-one nature of dealing with graduate students and post-docs is a contributing factor I always planned to lead my own research group. I will adapt a “leaders eat last” mentality and hope to first and foremost educate, train, and prepare students in my classroom and research group for their future successes.
