{"id":7,"date":"2015-11-03T15:53:11","date_gmt":"2015-11-03T20:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.eng.ufl.edu\/faculty-site\/?page_id=7"},"modified":"2026-01-08T19:41:45","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T19:41:45","slug":"research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/faculty.eng.ufl.edu\/peter-sheng\/research\/","title":{"rendered":"Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Reseach Highlights<\/h3>\n<ul type=\"SQUARE\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed the original <i><span style=\"color: #993366\">Curvilinear-grid Hydrodynamics 3D (CH3D)<\/span><\/i> model during 1983-1986,which was later applied to the Chesapeake Bay during 1988-1990.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Significantly enhanced the CH3D since 1988 through numerous modeling and field studies of complex Florida estuaries and lakes.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed an integrated hydrodynamics-sediment-water quality model of Lake Okeechobee in 1988-1994.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed a high resolution hydrodynamics model of the Sarasota Bay-Tampa Bay system.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed an integrated hydrodynamics-sediment-water quality-seagrass model of the Roberts Bay and Little Sarasota Bay system.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed an integrated hydrodynamics-water quality-seagrass model of the Tampa Bay estuarine system.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed hydrodynamics models of Lake Apopka, Charlotte Harbor, and Florida Bay.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica\"><span>Developed a fully integrated modeling system based on the curvilinear grid system of CH3D. The modeling system, CH3D-IMS, consists of a circulation model, a wave model, a sediment transport model, a water quality model, a light attenuation model, and a seagrass model.
