Mark Orazem, Ph.D., began his career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia. In 1988, he joined the faculty of the University of Florida, where he currently serves as a Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering. He has been recognized as a University of Florida Foundation Preeminence Professor and has received numerous University of Florida term professorships.
Prof. Orazem is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Electrochemical Society, and the International Society of Electrochemistry, serving as President of the latter from 2011 to 2013. He has authored over 220 refereed publications and co-authored the textbook Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy with Bernard Tribollet of the CNRS in Paris. Originally published by Wiley in 2008, the book was translated into Chinese by Chemical Industry Press in 2014. Its second edition was released in 2017, with the Chinese translation published in 2022. He also edited Underground Pipeline Corrosion, published by Woodhead Publishing in 2014.
Prof. Orazem’s accolades include the 2012 Henry B. Linford Award of the Electrochemical Society and, alongside his co-author Bernard Tribollet, the 2019 Claude Gabrielli Award for contributions to electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Additionally, he received the 2022 Electrochemical Society Corrosion Division H.H. Uhlig Award and the 2021 Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering Doctoral Dissertation Advisor/Mentoring Award.
