Doctorate Students

Carla Cabero del Hierro

Carla is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida, with a strong interest in materials research for space applications. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Computational Mathematics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she was also a student-athlete on the tennis team. Her hobbies include tennis, soccer, and paddle surfing.

Subham Pandey

Subham Pandey is an incoming Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida, with a strong interest in thermal sciences and mechanics. He earned his Master’s degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where he specialized in energy materials. His current research aspirations focus on advancing transient grating spectroscopy techniques and gravitational wave detection. Outside of his academic work, he enjoys playing cricket, traveling, watching movies, and anime.

Undergraduate Students

Arya Banapur

Arya Banapur is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Florida, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a minor in Economics. He has a strong interest in the renewable energy sector and hopes to further his professional career within this industry. Some of his hobbies include playing pickleball, working out, watching anime, and spending time with his cat.

Gregory Dina

Gregory Dina is a junior undergraduate student at the University of Florida, pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Physics. He began at UF in 2023 after completing his AA degree in high school at the State College of Florida. He finds interest in most technical topics, but his primary career goals involve the space industry and advancing human space exploration. Outside of class and work, he enjoys PC gaming, hiking/camping, watching movies, and listening to music.

Jared Paulovich

Jared Paulovich is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He has a passion for design and manufacturing and is eager to expand his skill set into the areas of fluids and thermodynamics. He currently serves as president of UF’s Gator Roundnet Club and loves spending time with his dog!

Conner Riley

Conner Riley is a current undergraduate student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida. His field of interest lies in the study of insulating materials for future space applications. He is currently pursuing the combined BS/MS degree program at the University of Florida. His personal interests include running, hiking and swimming.

Grant Roberts

Grant Roberts is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Science in both Mechanical Engineering and Physics. His interests are in the physics-focused side of mechanical engineering and how fundamental mechanics govern the properties of materials and mechanical systems. His hobbies include reading, computer/board game, watching anime, and swimming.
