NSF IRES
The goal of the National Science Foundation’s International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) program is to provide high quality educational experiences for small groups of U.S. students through active research participation in collaboration with foreign researchers at an international site and provide students with international collaborative research training and a personal network on which to build future collaborations.
NSF IRES Program: IRSC (2023, 2024, 2025)
Interdisciplinary Research in Smart City (IRSC) will provide a cohort of six US undergraduate/graduate students per year with the opportunity to explore research activities at Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea’s top university. The host research center is SNU’s Smart City Engineering Program.
NSF IRES Program: IRiKA (2019, 2021, 2023) – Complete
Interdisciplinary Research in Korea on Applied smart systems (IRiKA) is no longer accepting applications, as the NSF funding period has come to a close. During the lifetime of the award, 18 undergraduate and graduate students were selected to conduct research for 8 weeks at Korea’s top-ranked universities with state-of-the-art research facilities. You can read about their experiences on the website. Some partners will continue to accept research interns, and we are currently negotiating the financial support that can be provided. Please check back later for that opportunity,
