What is the Goldberg Gator Engineering Explorers Camp?<\/h2>\n
The University of Florida’s EQuIPD Grant has partnered with school districts all around Florida to create an exciting opportunity for K12 students to learn computational and problem solving skills through the Microsoft Micro:Bit program. Through the week to two week long summer camps, students will be challenged with multiple coding activities to advance them in their computational skills. Going through activities such as creating a Rock, Paper and Scissors game and a Design Thinking Competition, students will be given the foundation to excel in STEM related courses. <\/p>\n

What is the purpose of the Goldberg Training Camps? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The EQuIPD Goldberg Camps are focused on providing students with foundations in Computer Science and problem solving skills. They are also challenged to collaborate with their peers to create solutions to real world problems with code. Students can solve problems such as faulty traffic lights with just their minds and computers! The Microsoft Micro:Bit is a blank canvas for the students; they are able to use to create a solution to any real world problem. With the help of the EQuIPD team, students all over Florida are introduced to a new world filled with possibilities <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How is Goldberg applicable to real world educational issues?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Goldberg Camps are designed to track student progress with an array of studies to see their motivation, enjoyment, and academic progress in computer science. Student data is cross analyzed to understand how coding effects the academic world of K12 students. At EQuIPD, we believe that incorporating computer science skills at an early age can greatly improve academic scores in STEM related courses.
